Why We Started This

The career was the whole plan. Then motherhood rocked it.

Growing up first-gen South Asian, the best education and the best career weren't goals. They were nonnegotiables. That was the whole script, and our entire lives circled around it.

Then we became moms, went back to work, and hit a full existential crisis. Everything we were taught said career. Everything in us said wait. This podcast is us figuring that out, out loud, together.

Meet Purvi and Karen

Purvi Vyas in a bright pink outfit, laughing in a white studio

Purvi Vyas

Co-host

Twin mom, default parent, and the reason this show has zero filter. Purvi turns the micro-moments of working momhood, the 2am scorekeeping, the appointment nobody else can schedule right, into the stories you send your group chat. Her motto: send it.

Karen Desai in an orange cape suit, glancing over her shoulder in a white studio

Karen Desai

Co-host

The one who asks the deeper question. Karen went through the layoff, the return to work, and the spiral of untangling her worth from her output, and came back with the reframes that end every episode. She calls this chapter the era of becoming. She's usually right.
